Introduction to SonarLogin

SonarLogin is a system that enables users of a PC to perform automatic login/logout using the smartphone as a remote key when the user is near the PC. Through a continuous authentication solution, this system increases the security of the session avoiding the use of login & passwords. Also includes a Windows credential provider that uses the CopSonic SDK to allow secured automated login in the PC in a way that is fully compatible with all mobile devices. To use this functionality the user device doesn’t need any previous pairing or connection to the PC.

The communication between the PC and the mobile devices is based on CopSonic universal system to exchange secure data by ultrasounds. Compatibility with 100% of devices is guaranteed because only microphones and speakers are necessary.

The system consists of a Windows Service(running all the time in the Operating System of the PC) which handles all the operations, a Manager App(PC desktop app) that allows users to define and control the behaviour of the system, and a Mobile Application running in the user's mobile device, which is used to pair and authenticate with the PC.

How to use it
For using SonarLogin follow these general installation and configuration steps:

  • Install SonarLogin in the PC (see the Windows page for installation instructions in the PC)
  • Configure the system parameters using the manager app in the PC. The configuration is very simple, basically choosing the time to wait before locking the session when the user presence is not detected.
  • Install the SonarLogin mobile app in the mobile device (see the Mobile app page for installation instructions in the mobile devices).
  • Execute the pairing operation between the user's mobile device and the PC (see the Pairing section). Once completed, they constantly (and seamlessly) communicate maintaining a proximity verification process between the devices, ensuring access to the session in the PC as long as the user's paired mobile device is present within a defined range from the PC.
  • Keep the mobile app open (or running in the background in your phone), when you approach your workstation with your mobile the session opens automatically and it closes when you move away.

  • To use the Windows credential provider to log into the Windows session the user just needs to enter his/her username and password in the mobile app and press the "Login" button. The app will emit an encrypted ultrasound with the username and password information, which will be received in the PC to log in to the session that corresponds to the provided credentials. Any session in the PC can be accessed this way by simply entering the corresponding credentials in the mobile device, without any pairing or connection (see the Automatic Login section).
